My submission for a 4 hour game jam with theme "honey".

The game in its current state is unfinished.

Originally it was meant to be a Chopper Commando style game where the player had to land on a flower to draw its nectar and deposit it at the hive for points, within a 3 minute time limit. Flowers replenish nectar over time. The core gameplay is a combination of flying skill and resource management (in terms of replenishment).

Controls: 

  • O to fly up. It takes a moment for the bee to lift off.
  • Left and Right to fly side to side

With another hour, the core gameplay was completed (not in this version) which tracks score and time, can take and deposit nectar and doesn't clip through the flowers.

Ideas that weren't implemented:

  • Hard landings lose nectar
  • Better collision detection
  • Buzzing sounds that change pitch when the bee flies faster
  • Larger, scrolling play area with boundaries
